12th August - Hand Painted Purse Workshop

Hand Painted Purse Workshop - Bottle Works - Ouseburn - 12th August - 6.30pm to 8.30pm

Come along and make your own unique hand painted purse.  Purse created will be a single compartment purse, created using one piece of leather.

The design possibilities are endless! In this workshop I will guide you through painting, sewing and finishing edges of leather.

What to expect:

• Leather Painting - you will be provided with a scrap piece of leather to practise first). I have lots of different acrylic and water based leather paint colours available.  This will be a simple design, as we need to allow time for drying. (I will have examples and be able to advise)
• Saddle Stitch on Leather (we will practise on scrap leather while waiting for the paint to dry on the actual purse) This technique uses two needles and one piece of thread creating an interlocking stitch between the layers of leather. 
• Sanding and Burnishing edges of Purse

All materials and tools will be provided and lots of inspiration for painting styles too! But feel free to come along with your own ideas too!

What you will walk away with:  A handcrafted basic purse painted and sewn by yourself, the purse base colour will be undyed natural vegetable tanned cow leather.  (Don't fancy painting, that's fine too!  The sewing is still fun)

This will take place at Bottleworks in the Ouseburn as part of the LovelyAF summer pop up shop! Times will be 6.30 pm - 8.30 pm (Finish time may vary slightly)
